It's May Day!
Green seems to be the prominent color.
Everywhere I look, I see green...
with the exception of those things which are man made.
Ugly billboards, overhead power lines, and metal boxes with wheels
clutter my vision...distracting the beauty that surrounds me.
Thoughts of a simpler time flood my brain.
A time that I've never known, but can imagine.
A place where man and nature are one and the same.
Like a lion that roams the Serengeti or a dolphin that rides the waves.
This same connection between man and nature exist
but has been obscured by high-rise buildings casting shadows on our metropolis.
Buried beneath the concrete and asphalt
that connect us to all the places we treasure most.
Places that were once known for majestic beauty and tranquility
are now obstructed by power and greed.
Where must a man go to escape this madness?
If I had been born with wings, I would fly away.
Oh how lucky it must be, to be a bird!
An absolute freedom at the tips of your wings.
You and only you, in complete control of your destination.
Where time is only measured by the number of setting suns
that sink below the horizon.
Do you see it?
I can see it so clearly.
Please take me there.
Take me there now!
Return me to my Mother Earth!!!
